Care & Sizing

Wear It Well

Your waist beads should feel beautiful, comfortable, and intentional. Use this guide to choose the right size, placement, and style for you — and to keep your jewelry looking its best.

01

How to Measure for Your Waist Beads

Waist beads can be worn wherever feels most comfortable to you — around your natural waist, belly, or lower on your hips.

  1. Decide where you would like your waist beads to sit.
  2. Wrap a soft measuring tape around that area.
  3. Stand naturally — do not suck your stomach in or pull the measuring tape too tight.
  4. Make sure the tape is comfortably resting against your body and is level all the way around.
  5. Write down your measurement in inches.
No measuring tape? Use a piece of string or ribbon around your waist, mark where the ends meet, then measure the string with a ruler or standard tape measure.
02

Standard Length

Most Beaded & Balanced waist beads are made approximately 50 inches long, which accommodates sizes through approximately 3X.

Need more length? 60-inch strands are available by request at no additional charge and can accommodate approximately 4X sizing.

Because every body is shaped differently, your actual waist measurement is always the best guide.

03

Choose Your Waist Bead Style

Permanent / Tie-On

Made with durable nylon string and designed to be tied directly onto your body. Once tied, the excess string is trimmed and the waist bead remains on until you choose to cut it off. Perfect if you love the traditional waist bead experience or want to use your beads as an ongoing reminder of your intention.

Removable Stretch

Made with stretch cord so you can easily take your waist beads on and off. A great choice if you prefer flexibility, like to switch between different sets, or don't want to wear your beads continuously.

Clasp & Adjustable

Want the look of traditional waist beads with the ability to remove them? Clasp and adjustable-chain options may be available as an upgrade depending on the design.

Waist Bead Care

Your waist beads are handmade, so a little extra care will help them stay beautiful.

Tie-On / Nylon Waist Beads

Tie-on waist beads are designed for everyday wear and can generally be worn while showering and sleeping. For the longest life:

  • Avoid pulling, tugging, or catching your beads on clothing.
  • Be careful when changing clothes or using the restroom.
  • Avoid exposing gemstones, charms, or metal components to harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse away chlorine or salt water after swimming and gently pat your beads dry.
  • Check your strand occasionally for unusual stretching or wear.
Remember: waist beads are delicate jewelry. They're strong enough for normal wear, but they are not unbreakable.

Stretch Waist Beads

Stretch cord needs a little more protection than nylon string. For best results:

  • Roll your waist beads on and off instead of pulling or overstretching them.
  • Remove them before swimming or prolonged water exposure whenever possible.
  • Avoid lotions, oils, perfumes, and harsh chemicals directly on the elastic.
  • Store them flat or loosely coiled when they are not being worn.
  • Keep them away from excessive heat.
05

Gemstone & Jewelry Care

Gemstones, charms, wire-wrapped pieces, and other jewelry components should be treated gently. To keep your pieces looking their best:

  • Apply perfume, body oils, and lotions before putting your jewelry on.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water and harsh cleaning products.
  • Remove jewelry before swimming whenever possible.
  • Do not use chemical jewelry cleaners on gemstone pieces unless you know they are safe for that particular stone.
  • Wipe jewelry gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
  • Store pieces separately to prevent tangling, scratching, and snagging.
Natural gemstones can vary in color, shape, pattern, and texture. These variations are part of what makes each piece unique.

A Note About Your Intentional Jewelry

Your Beaded & Balanced pieces are created to be more than accessories. Wear them as a physical reminder of the energy, intention, affirmation, or personal commitment you are choosing for yourself.

Your jewelry doesn't have to be perfect to be meaningful — it simply has to mean something to you.

Wear your self-care.
